true compassion

CFA firefighter Mr Tree said he was in the middle of backburning at Mirboo North when he saw the stricken koala.
"I could see she had sore feet and was in trouble, so I pulled over the fire truck. She just plonked herself down, as if to say 'I'm beat'," he said. "I offered her a drink and she drank three bottles.

"The most amazing part was when she grabbed my hand. I will never forget that."

We also decided as a family to not only donate for the people but for the wildlife after we read this story! So sad and beautiful. A million animals dead is such an enormous cypher!

yes, as nobody has yet taken up the donation giveaway, i decided to donate the 30 to the Vic Animal Rescue. I have seen some incredible images of thousands of animals fleeling forests onto sports fields, literally just streaming out. amazing. But the poor koalas are so slow they dont stand much of a chance. a million is probably a conservative estimate.
