inglorious basteurds

the possums that is. Little buggers...that's putting it nicely. I had been eagerly awaiting the full ripening of these monsters; the rouge de marmande, as the season has been late late late for us here in the Hills and we have been living off lots of small cherry varieties. These are suppose to be early goers! bah! I woke up this morning to this. They are hanging at just the right height for possums and are just beginning to soften, sweeten and hue. I'm right royally peeved.

Ohhh,

You have my comiserations. I know I wouldn't have wanted to be in the vicinity when you found that.

There is nothing as frustrating in a cool season to just get your hopes up and then have them dashed...

Kind Regards
Beinda

God how heartbreaking :(. I have the same problem and now I just pick them all green and ripen them inside - its either that or nothing at all. I so know how frustrating it is. Commiserations.

The sad thing is...they don't just eat ONE they have to sample a few, just like the birds with the fruit.

Oh, I gasped when I saw the pictures. I'm so sorry. There were such beautiful fruit too. I had something similar the year I grew big tomatoes. I've switched to all cherry sized. They just work better and I get them before anything else.
